Kye Squire

I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Southampton University Hospital Trust , specialising in breast cancer.

Volunteering at the Dementia group enables me to give something back to the community.

Like most of us, dementia also affects my personal life, and some of my patients also have dementia, so it is relevant in my work as well as home life .

I enjoy the group and love seeing the pleasure people get from attending , both carers and people living with dementia.

I would like to see groups like this in every community in the future .

Lisa Virgo

Hey there I’m Lisa Virgo-Cox I joined as a volunteer to the dementia hub. Right from the start I wanted to help people who needed friendship and someone to listen. I’m overwhelmed with how much I enjoy my Monday mornings and look forward to seeing everyone each week. I don’t come with lots of qualifications or experience but I’m a good listener and make a good cup of tea! I live locally, I run my own business and have 4 kids, all teenagers, that I’m very proud of.

Brian Whitfield

Having experience being a carer of someone living with dementia I want to give something back. If I can share I my knowledge and help then that makes me happy.

I love spending time with people and listening to their stories. I work as a freelance heritage consultant, and have trained in oral history and reminiscence. With family experience of dementia, I am passionate about the wellbeing of those living with a dementia and their carers.

I'm Ian/Nock Parry and I thought I would volunteer to help with the group because I'd heard that It's "nice to be nice". Turns out it's true! Good people and good cake!
