Staff
Debbie brings warmth, kindness and a true passion for people to her role at the Totton Hub. She began her career in hairdressing before moving into barbering while raising her two children, later moving into healthcare where her love for working with people continued to grow.

While working in Trauma & Orthopaedics at University Hospital Southampton, Debbie discovered a real passion for supporting people living with dementia. She now creates a welcoming space where everyone feels valued, understood and cared for, and feels truly privileged to support both members and their families.

Being in a customer facing role for most of my working life (30 years in Totton) has given me skills of empathy and understanding of many different and diverse vulnerabilities, having known so many of the customers for so long. I was then personally thrown into the world of dementia with both mum & dad suffering from different forms at the same time with little or no support for us as a family! I now just have dad with Alzheimers, but seeing him come alive in these groups has been so fulfilling and rewarding and it is so evident that at the heart of every single one of those who attend is a wonderful human being still with a zest for life, fun, understanding and optimism. It’s a privilege to be part of this and to be able to help in any small way I can.
