Service Description

£7.00 - pay as you go Payment is weekly by cash or card for PAYG. Join us for an eight-week drumming for dementia course. These joyful, inclusive workshops combine rhythm, movement and music to create cognitive stimulation and a powerful and uplifting experience. The activity can be enjoyed seated or standing using specialist height adjustable drums and we take regular comfort breaks. Rhythms are simple and easy to follow, and we will take requests for favourite songs as the weeks go on. We invite you to drum to the beat of your favourite music, connect with new people and leave feeling energised and uplifted. Why drumming? Drumming offers something unique. It does not rely on memory, language or prior experience. Instead, it uses sound and movement to create an immediate connection. According to research, music-based activities can positively stimulate the brain and influence emotional wellbeing by activating multiple areas of the brain at once. Our team are trained and supported by Devon-based organisation Drums4Health, specialists in music-based therapy. We see the positive benefits in our wellbeing groups, and we are excited to widen the opportunity to others who want to experience the natural mood boost for themselves.
